  • another rainy sunday…when will it ever stop?
i found my way to causeway bay; and semi-unfortunately some shoes along the way.

@ 65% off, i was not able to resist temptation…and of course, non-work-appropriate.

i wonder when i’m going to start taking my life more seriously…

athens commented that both of us seem to have things come too easy
but i think i beg to differ, despite being the generation of self-entitlement

i don’t discount the robust and excruciating efforts i exert when i
    really, really want something.

i want ; means if i want it enough i will get it
getting what you want means making the decisions you need to make to get there
make the safe decision is safe, predictable and leads to nowhere new
the unsafe decision makes you respond in ways no one has thought of
that thought will leads to other thoughts that will help you get what you want
start making bad decisions and it will start taking you to places where others dream of being.

in conclusion: i told my parents they are full of crap. haha. ;P

  • rain, rain–GO AWAY!

i had to run 4 city blocks in a marc jacobs dress and became completely drenched in new york.

in taipei it was 40 degrees outside and no matter how much sunscreen i put on i swear my freckles re-emerged from their melanin-induced grave.

i arrive in HK to a level 8 typhoon killing any sort of social life and otherwise…

this has happened all within the last week. WTF. i’m beginning to obsess over the weather channel.

i watched the movie ‘Sparrow’ 文雀 @ the ifc theatre today.
it was the most regrettable $10 i ever spent in my life.
    not only did i space out multiple times during the movie;
    but the ending completely SUCKED.
任達華 + 林熙蕾– I am NOT impressed.

following that, drinks @ the HSBC bar. yes, HSBC has its own 30th floor bar.
and it’s pretty damn nice too… every multi-national corporation should consider putting a bar on one of their top floors. amazing. the only downside is running into your boss after work…

i spent a good hour of my life trying to get a china visa today. only to be told i’d have to wait a week and it’s not guaranteed etc etc… i had a strong urge to walk the great wall and forbidden city today, might as well see it @ its best 1 month before olympics right?

but alas, fate was against me so betty and i have to settle for seoul instead.
there’s no hutongs there but there is a de-militarized zone… i’ll settle for some stoic soldiers instead of eunuch spirits…

i must get used to this expat-city thing. there’s more caucasians in my neighborhood than there is in richmond hill and north york combined!

  • i have to acknowledge that i realize i am geographically advantaged.

there’s a friggin’ level 8 typhoon in HK today. i thought my windows would blow out.

i spent a good part of the night scared that the glass would shatter and i would be subjected to the terrible winds and rain. thankfully, my imagination was running wild as usual. i blame athens and her non-presence. why do you need to stay in a 5star hotel in dubai when your best friend is gonna die alone? haha.

so anyways. back to being geographically advantaged. my recruiter was 25 minutes late meeting me because she lives in some godforsaken area in the outskirts of HK whereby she had to take a local boat and then commuter rail and then the subway. WTF. and i was complaining about my 10 minute walk to the office zone.

in taipei, i live a 2 minute walk to the subway, or a 15 min walk/ $70NT cab ride to the business district and taipei 101. toronto is by far my most unconvenient as it is a 15 minute walk uphill to the subway…but really… i’m just spoiled.

geographically advantaged is also awesome for social life. i can walk 10 minutes to get drinks here. no more hauling ass downtown just for alkie and good convos! i’m still pretty optimistic right now… hopefully it’s a trend that will continue!

  • 1st week in HK

i’m semi-settled in here. as in, i have a bed! yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

i walked athens to work today and decided to explore the area.
what’s hard getting used to is the contrast…
my street is right beside the traditional market and the corporate jungle..

this is the building i live in–4th Floor!

    my street~

the fruit vendor across the street

the front entrance… i vow never to try those 2 restaurants… force myself to walk somewhere

turn the corner…and it looks like this…

i have an uncanny feeling too much $$$ will be spent @ this organic food market

my very cozy kitchen…or kitchenette if you prefer…

my VERY cozy room that fits… 1 double bed from Ikea, 1 night table, and 1 wardrobe…that’s it

    the kitchen table/dining room table/desk

it’s smaller living space than i’m used to…
    but rent is $400 CAD/month.
i can’t really complain as long as air conditioning is blasting!

    now…on-to job-searching!

  • 薇風在台北車站開了超大的美食街~

this is snippets from the new mega-food court @breeze taipei station.

there’s over 50 food vendors. it took us 25 minutes just to decide what to eat.

too bad i need to majorly diet…i can only drool and look @ photos…
